Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called “The Pledge”. The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course… it probably isn’t. The second act is called “The Turn”. The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you’re looking for the secret… but you won’t find it, because of course you’re not really looking. You don’t really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn’t clap yet. Because making something disappear isn’t enough; you have to bring it back. That’s why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call “The Prestige.”

Alphonse Mucha - images from Le Pater

Mucha considered his publication Le Pater to be his printed masterpiece, and referred to it in The Sun of 5 January 1900 as what he had “put [his] soul into”. Printed on 20 December 1899, Le Pater was Mucha’s occult examination of the themes of The Lord’s Prayer and only 510 copies were produced.

(for more details)

Personally, I think this sort of stuff is more interesting than the usual 4 Seasons stuff.

Five minutes to Midnight

My end of the trade with the talented feyuca! (bit late on my part) I hope you like it, I think this is the first time I’ve ever drawn Sherlock and I’m not sure if I managed to make it look like him.
Death by mistletoe sounds pretty undignified to be honest but ‘tis the season and all. I guess Jim was feeling the holiday cheer.

Oh my god this is fantastic and so so very beautiful!! ;A; (The trees are very very lovely and hngghhh that mistletoe/embrace <333) Thank you so much lemonedcurd! This is the best christmas-new-year’s present ;u;
