An AU where young Sherlock and Jim attend a highly competitive private school. Moriarty is the well dressed, half-polite new kid everyone soon comes to despise. Once he exhausts all the headmasters with his wit, test scores, and grades, Jim sets his eyes on someone willing to play a little game with him instead: Sherlock Holmes. Instead of competing for the highest marks, the boys set to outsmart each other in a game of mischief and trickery.

However, when the playing field moves away from school and onto the real world, Sherlock finds himself too caught up to realize he’s gone too far. 

I’d like to imagine this is how the boys find which side of the coin they stand on, and the reason Moriarty is so obsessed with him; which is to say he has a major crush on anyone willing to play his games and survive. Being Sherlock is the first….well, let’s just say he never got over it.

John would, of course, be Sherlock’s best, and only friend with Mycroft standing as an upperclassman with no time for his little brother’s hi jinks. Only when he gets himself into deep shit does he finally rescue him from his own stupidity. Sebastian falls into Moriarty’s games, but unlike Sherlock, he sticks around for the longrun.

sherlock/inception crossover: sherlock’s gone to deep, too far caught up in his dreamscape, his wars and his urban battlefields that he’s forgotten what’s real; even forgotten where the dream began. it’s an endless world of cases and it’s perfect for him: able to do experiments and never permanently injure anyone. john had warned him, told him about the dangers of too many levels of consciousness and all that, but sherlock wouldn’t be sherlock if he had listened.  mycroft wouldn’t normally involve himself with minor retrieval cases, but this is his little brother we’re talking about and nothing is going to stand in his way. they’ve got the best team on hand, and they are going to get him back, no matter what.
